Dr Savitr Sastri BV, MCh, Neurosurgeon
Dr Savitr Sastri BV is a senior Neurosurgeon in Hyderabad. He completed his undergraduate medical training (MBBS) from JIPMER, Pondicherry, MS in General Surgery from Bangalore Medical College, and MCh Neurosurgery at NIMHANS, Bangalore. He worked as Assistant and Associate professor at Vydehi Institute of Medical Sciences in Bangalore, before joining Yashoda Hospitals, Hyderabad, as full-time consultant. Following this, he was the Chief Consultant Neurosurgeon at Health City Cayman Islands, under Narayana Health. He currently works as Senior Consultant Neurosurgeon and Minimally Invasive Spine Surgeon at KIMS Hospital, Kondapur, Hyderabad.
Having worked at AIIMS, New Delhi and undergone specialized training in Spine Surgery and Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery at Cleveland Clinic and Riverside Hospital, USA, he has performed over 5000 surgeries independently. These include aneurysms, endoscopic skull base surgeries, and pediatric neurosurgery, complex spine surgery and robotics. He has a special interest in minimal access and robotic spine surgeries including degenerative, inflammatory, neoplastic and traumatic conditions, and cranio-vertebral junction anomalies. His expertise is in the management of brain tumors, head injuries, strokes and aneurysms, spinal disorders, minimal access spine surgery, image-guided surgery, pediatric neurosurgery, skull base surgery and neuro-oncology.
He is trained in the use of the latest technological innovations in Neurosurgery such as neuronavigation, image-guided surgery, neuromonitoring, and robotic brain and spine surgery to ensure the best possible safety in all brain and spine surgeries.
He has a keen interest in the design and use of medical technology and surgical ergonomics. And an active teacher and trainer in Minimally Invasive and Robotic Spine Surgery. He is currently also pursuing and Advanced Management Program in Healthcare at the Indian School of Business.
When he isn’t working or writing, he is an avid musician, scuba diver and underwater photographer.
